Jay Medicar Transportation, LLC will pay $70,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The EEOC had accused Jay Medicar’s former director of operations of creating a sexually hostile work environment by demanding sex from five female employees in exchange for pay raises and schedule changes.

Middle Smithfield Township sued for sexual harassment

Middle Smithfield Township employee Robyn Pugh has filed a sexual harassment complaint with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

Elixir Lounge and Night Club manager ordered to pay sexual harassment victim

A former waitress at Elixir Lounge and Night Club in Hess Village, Canada was awarded $300,000 in a civil lawsuit after having been sexually assaulted by the night club manager, Denis Vranich.

Vranich was previously sentenced to 12 months of house arrest after pleading guilty to a criminal charge of sexual assault.

MTV Networks is being sued for sexual harassment and wrongful discharge by a former employee.

Eliza Sproul, a former MTV production coordinator, claims that she was sexually harassed by a coworker and subjected to a hostile work environment while the reality show “The Hills” was being filmed in Costa Rica.

Lighthouse Restaurant has agreed to pay $23,000 to settle an EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit that was brought against the restaurant owner, Faros Inc.

The Michigan City, Indiana restaurant was sued after its manager was accused of subjecting a female employee to a sexually hostile work environment for several months.

Sandra Saunders, the building inspector of West Virginia’s City of Nitro, has filed a formal complaint after she was allegedly subjected to sexual harassment and sexual assault.

Saunders claims that she was sexually harassed by an unnamed male co-worker. City Attorney Richie Robb declined to speculate who was involved but said he would discuss the complaint with Mayor Rusty Casto.

Destination Resorts sued for sexual harassment

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a lawsuit against Destination Resorts & Hotels after it failed to stop an employee from being sexually harassed at The Resort at Squaw Creek, a ski resort near Lake Tahoe that the company manages.

The EEOC claims that Shira Garfinkel was subjected to sexual harassment by a co-worker, who made unwanted advances. When Garfinkel rejected the advances, she was threatened and her house was broken into by the co-worker.

Garfinkel said, “Even after the harasser threatened me and broke into my house, my employer did not take it seriously. I kept begging the company to do something to protect me. Instead of taking action against the harasser, I was the one who suffered consequences. I felt punished for speaking out.”

Monarch Dental pays $175,000 to settle EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission announced that Smile Brands of Texas, L.P., a Burleson, Texas dental practice that did business as Monarch Dental, will pay $175,000 to two former employees who were subjected to sexually hostile work environment by a male dentist. According to the EEOC, the dentist charged with the sexual harassment was fired last month.

Dental hygienist Deanna Chaney and dental assistant Jan Pawelek claimed that they were subjected to unwanted sexual comments and touching by the harassing dentist.

EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Virginia Family Dollar Store

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Family Dollar Stores of Virginia, Inc.

The EEOC claims that a store manager sexually harassed employee Chanele Brown by groping and propositioning her for sex. Brown alleges that her objections to her direct supervisor’s sexual advances did not stop the harassment.

EEOC attorney Lynette Barnes said, “Employees should not have to tolerate unwanted sexual conduct as a condition of employment.”
