America’s Worst Bosses 2011 have cost their employers over $145 million

LAS VEGAS, Dec. 19, 2011 – eBossWatch, the leading career resource that enables people to anonymously rate their bosses and evaluate potential employers, today published the third annual list of Americas Worst Bosses.

This year’s worst bosses include a famous actor, a movie producer, a Fortune 500 CEO, two US Navy officers, two doctors, two judges, two district attorneys, three police chiefs, a US Congressman, a US Senator, and a US Ambassador.

An eBossWatch panel of workplace experts selected and ranked the worst bosses from across the country. To date, the 2011 America’s Worst Bosses have cost their employers over $145 million in monetary damages and lawsuit settlement payments.

Jay Medicar Transportation, LLC will pay $70,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission.

The EEOC had accused Jay Medicar’s former director of operations of creating a sexually hostile work environment by demanding sex from five female employees in exchange for pay raises and schedule changes.

MTV employee files sexual harassment and hostile work environment lawsuit

MTV Networks is being sued for sexual harassment and wrongful discharge by a former employee.

Eliza Sproul, a former MTV production coordinator, claims that she was sexually harassed by a coworker and subjected to a hostile work environment while the reality show “The Hills” was being filmed in Costa Rica.

EEOC sues DHL Global for national origin discrimination

DHL Global is being sued by the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission after the company allegedly subjected Hispanic employees to discrimination based on their national origin.

The EEOC claims that Hispanic employees at DHL’s Dallas warehouse were called derogatory names and slurs on an ongoing basis.

DHL management allegedly ignored the complaints that had been reported to them, and the company allegedly fired union steward Troy Petty in retaliation after he reported the hostile work environment that Hispanic employees claim to have endured.

Lighthouse Restaurant pays $23,000 to settle sexual harassment lawsuit

Lighthouse Restaurant has agreed to pay $23,000 to settle an EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit that was brought against the restaurant owner, Faros Inc.

The Michigan City, Indiana restaurant was sued after its manager was accused of subjecting a female employee to a sexually hostile work environment for several months.

ALC pays $125,000 to settle EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit

American Laser Centers has agreed to pay $125,000 to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit that was filed by the EEOC.

Several female employees claim that they were subjected to a sexually hostile work environment at the ALC location in Fresno, California.

City of Oakdale pays $185,000 to settle race discrimination suit

The employee, William Moffitt, claimed that he was subjected to a racially hostile work environment and retaliation by his bosses and co-workers.

Team Bondi shuts down amid hostile workplace allegations

Former employees had complained about a hostile work environment that was created by Team Bondi’s founder, Brendan McNamara. One employee described McNamara as being “one of the angriest people in the world.”

EEOC sues Sutter Transfer Service for racial harassment

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a racial harassment lawsuit against Yuba City, California company Sutter Transfer Service.

According to the EEOC, Lonnie Winstead was subjected to a hostile work environment by his dispatcher, who frequently called him racial slurs like “coon,” “gorilla,” “porch monkey,” and “n—-r.”

Winstead said, “I just wanted to do my job, but I had to listen to these racist comments almost every day from the person who gave us our work dispatch. As the only black truck driver at Sutter, I was mortified to hear these stereotypes. It hurt.”
