Bad boss costs SFPUC $350,000 in sexual harassment settlement

The San Francisco Public Utilities Commission (SFPUC) has agreed to pay a former employee $350,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit that she filed in 2011.

Paulette Adams-Irving, who quit her job at the Sunol Water Treatment Plant in 2010 to escape from an alleged sexually hostile work environment, claims that she had a bad boss who tried to kiss her and asked her to have sex with him and to give him oral sex.

Adams-Irvine also alleges that her former boss, who no longer works at the SFPUC, gave her a DVD that contained videos of him masturbating.

According to the complaint, Adams-Irvine was subjected to sexual harassment and discrimination from “the all-male upper-level staff and co-workers” and then was threatened and retaliated against when she complained about the hostile work environment.
