Wilmington firefighters accuse Chief Edward Bradbury of creating a hostile work environment

The Wilmington firefighters union passed a unanimous vote of “no confidence” in chief Edward Bradbury on April 23.

The union claims that Bradbury is a bad boss who has created an unsafe and hostile work environment for Wilmington firefighters.

The day after the vote of no confidence, Bill Cavanaugh, president of Wilmington’s Firefighters Local 1370, sent a letter to the town manager explaining the vote and the allegations that led to the vote of no confidence.

According to the letter, “there have been so many instances of misconduct by the Chief, which affect both the morale, safety, and efficiency of the Department, that the members of Local 1370 believe they have no other choice.”

The letter also claims that Bradbury made “incendiary and false remarks about the physical/mental characteristics of firefighters under his command.”
