Sexual harassment lawsuit filed against Newport Beach Police Chief Jay Johnson

A former police dispatcher has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the California City of Newport Beach, the police department, and police chief Jay Johnson.

Christine Hougan claims that she was subjected to sexual harassment by Johnson, who allegedly made inappropriate comments to her.

Hougan also alleges that Johnson retaliated against her after her husband, who is also a former Newport Beach police officer, testified against police department officials in an unrelated case in 2008.

Hougan, who was terminated in February 2012, is appealing her termination. Her husband, who was fired in 2011, filed a retaliation and wrongful termination lawsuit against the city in July 2012.
