Former Elko police officer sues for hostile work environment

Cassandra Sabo, an Elko police officer, has filed a sex discrimination lawsuit against the Nevada city, the chief of police, and three of her bosses.

Sabo claims that her bosses created a hostile work environment for her. Sabo claims she was the only woman who worked for the Elko Police Department.

According to the complaint, Sabo was subjected to physical abuse during training that the male trainees were not subjected to. For example, Sabo claims she was put in a choke hold and was hit with batons during training.

Sabo, who was sworn in as an Elko police officer on October 8, 2012, resigned on January 24, 2013 because of the alleged hostile work environment.
