City of Aberdeen to pay $580,000 to settle judge sexual harassment lawsuit

The Washington city of Aberdeen has agreed to pay $580,000 for a former court administrator to settle her sexual harassment lawsuit.

Aminta Hill claims that Aberdeen Municipal Court Judge Paul Conroy subjected her to sexual harassment and stalked her, and her complaint also accused Conroy of creating a hostile work environment and retaliation.

In early 2010, an independent investigator hired by the city to investigate Hill’s allegations found that Conroy did make romantic advances toward Hill.

Hill, who eventually quit her job to after rejecting Conroy’s alleged advances, filed the sexual harassment lawsuit against the city and Conroy in August 2010.
