Sexual harassment lawsuit filed against LA Sheriff’s Department

In February 2013, Lt. Angela Walton filed a sexual harassment, sexual assault, and retaliation lawsuit against the County of Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Sheriff’s Department, and Commander Joseph Fennell.

According to the complaint, Fennell has “a long history of sexual harassment, sexual deviance of workplace sexual misconduct” and has been named in two other lawsuits.

Walton claims that Fennell was a bad boss who subjected her to a sexually hostile work environment for four years.

Fennell allegedly repeatedly tried to coerce Walton into having sex with him as a condition of employment and subjected Walton to unwanted sexual advances.

Walton alleges that Fennell threatened her with loss of promotions if she disclosed the sexual harassment “because his wife ‘would wring his neck’ in his sleep.”

When Walton complained about the harassment, she claims she was fired in retaliation.
