Evans Fruit Company wins sexual harassment lawsuit

A federal jury ruled in favor of Evans Fruit in the sexual harassment lawsuit that the EEOC had filed against the company.

Over a dozen women claimed that they were subjected to a sexually hostile work environment by former foreman Juan Marin.

Marin and certain other bosses had been accused by the EEOC of subjecting a number of female Evans Fruit employees to sexual advances, propositioning, and groping.

Marin was fired for embezzling $500,000 from the company after the EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit was filed.

Another EEOC lawsuit that claims that Evans Fruit retaliated against ten of the employees who filed the sexual harassment complaints is scheduled to begin on May 20.

Evans Fruit is one of the nation’s largest apple growers.
