California Products Corporation sued for age discrimination

John Treadway, a 70-year-old former paint salesperson at California Products Corporation (CPC), has filed an age discrimination lawsuit against the company.

Treadway, who was awarded a “Sales Achievement Award” in 2010 for his exemplary sales efforts and who was allegedly one of the company’s highest grossing salespeople, claims that he was fired in December 2011 because of his age and replaced with considerably younger employees.

According to the complaint, though a CPC VP told Treadway that the company was eliminating his job, Treadway later discovered that CPC assigned his former sales territories to other sales employees.

Treadway had worked for the Tennessee-based paint company and its predecessors for over 30 years.
