Bad boss fired for creating hostile work environment and calling employees ‘dogs’

Lee County court administrator Nancy Aloia was fired on April 5th for creating a hostile work environment for her 40 employees, some of whom she referred to as “dogs.”

A number of Aloia’s employees accused her of being a bad boss with an abusive management style. She was also accused of favoring some employees, such as one who babysat her children, over other employees.

The US Department of Labor conducted an internal investigation into Aloia’s behavior and found that she violated federal labor law.

Aloia, who worked at the 20th Judicial Circuit for over 18 years, denies harassing her employees or creating a hostile work environment.
