The Howard Industries discrimination lawsuit settlement agreement was recently approved by a federal judge.
According to the settlement agreement, Howard Industries will pay $1.3 million and will hire at least 70 workers. The $1.3 million will likely be paid to up to 5,000 non-Hispanic job candidates who applied from March 2003 to August 2008 but were not hired by Howard Industries.
The class action discrimination lawsuit was filed against Howard Industries by four African-American women who claimed that the company discriminated against them by hiring only Hispanic job applicants.
Though Howard Industries agreed to settle the lawsuit, the company has admitted no wrongdoing in its hiring practices.
