Bad boss costs LAPD $1.25 million in sexual harassment lawsuit settlement

The City of Los Angeles has agreed to pay $1.25 million to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit that was filed by two lesbian LAPD officers who allege they had a bad boss who repeatedly harassed them at work.

Officer Lynn Whitey and former Officer Linda Gotham claim that their then-boss, Sgt. Randy Hoffmaster subjected them to a sexually hostile work environment by making unwanted sexual propositions to them and by making vulgar sexual comments to them.

Whitey and Gotham allege that they complained multiple times to senior LAPD officials but that Hoffmaster’s sexual harassment continued.

After the women filed the sexual harassment lawsuit, the LAPD conducted an internal investigation into their allegations and Hoffmaster subsequently resigned from the police department.
