$4 million age and race discrimination lawsuit filed by former Shawnee County Juvenile Detention Center employee

A former employee of the Shawnee county Juvenile Detention Center has filed an age and race discrimination lawsuit against the county.

Ning Lu, who is a 47-year-old Chinese woman, claims that she was discriminated against by her employer from December 2011 to May 2012.

Lu included eleven county employees, including juvenile detention center deputy director Eve Kendall, former corrections director Dick Kline and Shawnee County Commissioner Shelly Buhler, as defendants in the lawsuit.

Shawnee County counselor Rich Eckert, who called the lawsuit “frivolous,” said that he expects that the case will be dismissed.
