The EEOC has filed a race discrimination lawsuit against Miami-based Prestige Transportation Service, LLC, a successor corporation to Airbus Alliance, Inc.
The EEOC claims that Prestige Transportation Service discriminated against an African-American employee and fired three employees in retaliation for opposing the race discrimination and/or filing a discrimination complaint with the EEOC.
According to the EEOC, top management at Prestige advised the company’s HR manager not to give applications to black job candidates because it was a “waste of paper.” The EEOC also alleges that Prestige management said that “black people were trouble and would sue the company.”
The EEOC’s Miami District Office regional attorney Robert E. Weisberg said, “The unfortunate reality is that in the 21st century, black applicants continue to face unlawful discrimination when seeking employment. The EEOC will take action when a business violates Title VII by intentionally excluding applicants because of the individual’s race or national origin.”
