Police officers Rick Disney and Peter Graff have filed claims against the city of Tehachapi for allegedly being subjected to “emotional distress and mental suffering due to (a) hostile work environment” and “loss of pay.”
The claims, which could lead to a formal lawsuit, include allegations that the two police officers were subjected to workplace harassment and retaliation by being denied merit pay raises after they reported alleged wrongdoing by their coworkers and/or supervisors.
Disney and Graff listed Tehachapi Police Chief Jeff Kermode, Sgt. Kevin Empey, Senior Officer Scott Ketcham, and Senior Officer Mike Christian as being responsible for creating the hostile work environment.
Kermode, in a press release, wrote that the police department is taking the claims seriously, is conducting an investigation, and will discipline any officers responsible for misconduct.
