Energy Northwest discrimination lawsuit

Susan Howell, a former security guard at the Energy Northwest nuclear power plant in Richland, Washington, has filed a sex discrimination lawsuit against Energy Northwest.

Howell claims that she was discriminated against because she is a woman and that she was subjected to a hostile work environment ¬†where her coworkers allegedly ridiculed her by calling her a “bitch,” referring to going to the restroom as “taking a Susan,” pulling her hair, and writing the word “idiot” on her hard hat.

According to the complaint, Howell’s supervisors did not allow her to go on bathroom breaks, and managers witnessed some of the alleged harassment of Howell but did not try to stop the hostile work environment.

The complaint states that some of her coworkers were disciplined in a limited manner when she complained about the harassment.
