ABC Cake Shop & Bakery sexual harassment lawsuit settlement

The ABC Cake Shop and Bakery in Albuquerque, NM has agreed to pay $220,000 to settle an EEOC sexual harassment lawsuit.

The EEOC claims that Paul Bendinskas, one of the owners of the ABC Cake Shop, created a sexually hostile work environment for female employees, some of whom were teenagers at the time.

According to the EEOC’s complaint, “On a daily basis, Paul Bendinskas rubbed up against, massaged, or touched women’s buttocks, backs, shoulders, necks and other parts of their bodies. On at least a weekly basis, Paul Bendinskas, groped, squeezed, or touched women while handing out the weekly paychecks.  On almost a daily basis, Paul Bendinskas made sexual comments to female employees.”

According to the EEOC, some of the employees were forced to quit their jobs because of the sexual harassment.
