Lucasfilm pregnancy discrimination lawsuit

A California appeals court reversed the jury verdict in the pregnancy discrimination lawsuit against Lucasfilm that was filed by Julie Gilman Veronese.

The three-judge appeals panel sent the case back to Marin Superior Court for retrial and vacated the $1.2 million in attorney’s fees.

Veronese, who claims that her job offer was revoked after Lucasfilm learned that she was pregnant, was awarded $114,000 by a jury in 2010.

The appeals panel said that the trial judge made a lot of errors in giving the jury instructions that it “prejudicially affected the verdict.”
