The Columbus city council is facing a decision on settling a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by municipal court interpreter Brenda Williams.
Williams claims that Franklin County judge Harland Hale subjected her to sexual harassment that included grabbing Williams’ breasts. She also claims that Hale created a hostile work environment by using racial slurs.
Williams alleges that she was subjected to retaliation when she complained about the harassment and that she was ultimately fired.
The Columbus City Attorney’s Office wants the city council to pay $150,000 to settle the sexual harassment lawsuit. Hale has already personally settled out of court with Williams.
