GGNSC Charlotte Renaissance, LLC, which operates the Golden LivingCenter-Dartmouth nursing home in Charlotte, North Carolina, has agreed to pay $50,000 to settle an EEOC disability discrimination lawsuit.
The EEOC claims that GGNSC Charlotte Renaissance did not allow one of its nurses to take a medical leave of absense to receive treatment for her disability, depression. The company fired her instead.
Lynette Barnes, regional attorney for the EEOC’s Charlotte District Office, said “This case should remind employers that inflexible leave policies may be in violation of federal law. Employers must always consider whether their leave policies are in alignment with the requirements of the ADA.”
