Dairy Queen franchisee $17,500 EEOC sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit settlement

Dairy Queen franchisee YS&J Enterprises, Inc. has agreed to pay $17,500 to settle an EEOC sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit.

According to the EEOC, 18-year-old employee Chastity Hill-Cox was sexually harassed by a male cashier at the Winston-Salem Dairy Queen. The cashier allegedly made explicit sexual comments and gestures and referred to Hill-Cox using offensive derogatory terms.

Hill-Cox alleges that she complained to the Dairy Queen restaurant manager but the harassment did not stop, and her boss eventually fired Hill-Cox for “causing too many problems” after she and her mother called the police to report the harassment.
