Alliant Techsystems race discrimination lawsuit

Minnesota-based company Alliant Techsystems, Inc. will pay $100,000 to settle an EEOC race discrimination lawsuit.

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission claimed that Tyeastia Green, an African-American job applicant, was rejected for a position with ATK after being told by an ATK recruiter that she would be hired.

ATK, which is one of the nation’s largest aerospace and defense manufacturers, hired a white male job candidate instead.

John Hendrickson, regional attorney for the EEOC’s Chicago district, said, “We found it was clear that ATK rejected Green because of the color of her skin, and not because of her skills, and that’s illegal as well as unjust.”
