Former Peekskill Housing Authority Director Gheevarghese Thankachan was awarded $1 million in a racial discrimination and unlawful termination lawsuit that he filed against the PHA.
Thankachan alleged that he had been fired illegally for racial and political reasons and that then-acting Board Chairwoman Leesther Brown discriminated against him based on his Indian ethnicity.
New York attorney Christopher D. Watkins from the law firm Sussman & Watkins represented Thankachan in his lawsuit against the PHA.
