Panera Bread franchisee Sam Covelli will pay $76,000 to settle race discrimination lawsuit

Covelli Enterprises, an Ohio Panera Bread franchisee that owns several Panera Bread restaurants in western Pennsylvania, has agreed to pay $76,000 to settle a race discrimination lawsuit.

According to Salon, Guy Vines, a black employee at one of the Covelli Panera Bread locations, alleged he wasn’t given promotions and was forced to work in the kitchen because franchisee owner Sam Covelli allegedly tried to keep black employees away from areas where they would be in contact with customers.
