Newton Police Chief Matthew Cummings accused of creating hostile work environment

Jeanne Sweeny Mooney, a longtime executive administrator in the Newton Police Department, has accused Police Chief Matthew Cummings of creating a hostile work environment.

Mooney claims that Cummings made disrespectful and insulting remarks to three female employees and that he called her a “bitch” and told her that she looks “like a whore.”

An investigative summary into the allegations was released on August 29, and Mayor Setti Warren put Cummings on paid administrative leave.
