Federal Fruit and Produce $1.3 million race discrimination lawsuit

A jury awarded $1.3 million to two former Federal Fruit and Produce employees at the conclusion of a race discrimination lawsuit that they filed against the company.

One of the employees, Richard Perkins, claimed that the company co-owner Michael Martelli called him racial slurs, discriminated against him and the other black employee then retaliated against them and fired them.

Denver attorney Reid J. Elkus from the law firm Elkus, Sisson & Rosenstein, P.C. represented Perkins in his lawsuit against Federal Fruit and Produce.
