James Shea, the CEO of the New York City Department of Education’s School Facilities Division, is being accused by a DOE director of routinely commenting on women’s bodies and blurting out the names of the women he wanted to have sex with.
Sheila Dancy-Wilkins, a director in the School Facilities Division, filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against the DOE. According to the complaint, “Senior management has not only tolerated but encouraged a culture of sexism and sex stereotyping.”
The lawsuit says John Shea and his executive director, John O’Connell, regularly referred to female employees as “girls” despite being told to stop by one of the female directors.
According to the lawsuit, senior management “encourages joking in the office that is sexual in nature and have (jokingly) referred to women as ‘ho’s’ and ‘bitches.'”
