Western Energy Services of Durango sued for age discrimination

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed an age discrimination lawsuit against Colorado-based Western Energy Services of Durango (WESODI).

According to the EEOC, WESODI refused to hire qualified, experienced electricians Dennis Thomas and Eric Camron because they are in their 60’s and 70’s.

Instead, the company hired two lesser qualified electricians who are in their 20’s.  The EEOC believes that this is a violation of the Age Discrimination in Employment Act, which prohibits employment age discrimination against employees who are over the age of 40.
