EEOC sues Sweetwater Healthcare Center for religious discrimination

The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a religious discrimination lawsuit against Texas-based Senior Living Properties, L.L.C., d/b/a Sweetwater Healthcare Center, a company that owns 35 senior assisted living facilities.

According to the EEOC, a new supervisor at Sweetwater Healthcare Center fired Amanda Spalding for not working on Sundays because of her religious beliefs.

EEOC attorney Devika Seth said, “Requiring an employee to choose between her faith and a job that she is dedicated to is not only bad faith, it is illegal.”
