Interim Houma Police Chief Todd Duplantis was approved on Wednesday to take permanent office.
Duplantis, who had been serving as interim chief since 2008, was supposed to have become permanent chief in April 2010, but he withdrew his appointment after a female police department employee accused him of sexual harassment.
An internal police investigation later cleared Duplantis of the sexual harassment allegations.
Duplantis’ predecessor, former Police Chief Pat Boudreaux, resigned after four female employees filed a lawsuit accusing Boudreaux of sexual harassment.
