Two sex discrimination lawsuits filed by former female employees of Virginia Tech are scheduled to go to trial in April and June.
In the first lawsuit, Shana Kennedy Maron, Erin Hofberg, and Getra Hanes claim that female employees of the Virginia Tech fundraising department received lower salaries than their male counterparts.
In the second lawsuit, Hanes claims that Bob Bailey, the Senior Regional Director for Major Gifts at Virginia Tech, subjected her to a hostile work environment by making “numerous derogatory comments about women which suggested that the women in Development didn’t know what they were doing, were annoying, were professionally incompetent, were unintelligent and/or had poor judgment.”
