Brand Energy & Infrastructure Services, Inc. and three related companies have agreed to pay $110,000 to settle a sexual harassment and retaliation lawsuit filed by the EEOC on behalf of former employee Jauronice Hayes. Hayes worked at Brand’s Conoco Phillips facility in Belle Chasse, Louisiana.
Hayes claimed that her boss, Charles Julian, exposed his genitals to her and told her that she would be fired if she didn’t have sex with him. Hayes claims that she repeatedly rejected Julian’s sexual advances and complained via an anonymous company hotline. She alleges that she was laid off shortly thereafter for refusing Julian’s “sexual advances and demands, and for complaining about the harassment.”
According to the EEOC, “After Brand terminated [Hayes], [Julian] called her several times to offer her job back in exchange for sex.”
