Lakeland Electric boss accused of creating hostile work environment

A request to city commissioners by a Florida public power utility to install a call center recording system led to questions about David Kus, the assistant general manager of customer service at Lakeland Electric.

According to The Ledger, Commissioner Justin Troller’s questions “stemmed from accusations Kus faced in Lansing, Mich., when the FBI investigated eavesdropping allegations at the Board of Water and Light customer service center that Kus supervised.”

Although the FBI closed the investigation without filing any charges against Kus, Kus ended up being fired from the Board of Water and Light because of an intimate relationship between Kus and one of his employees.

Troller also said that at least two current employees have accused Kus of creating a hostile work environment.
