EEOC files disability discrimination lawsuit against Maxim Healthcare Services

The EEOC has filed a disability discrimination lawsuit against Maxim Healthcare Services on behalf of Anne Whitledge, a former nurse who died of brain cancer in August.

The EEOC claims that Maxim Healthcare Services violated the Americans with Disabilities Act when it fired Whitledge in February 2009 after she was diagnosed with cancer instead of trying to find a way for her to keep working.

Because Whitledge was fired, her life insurance policy was cancelled, and her orphaned 10-year-old daughter did not receive any life insurance money.
