Waterford Township Police Department sexual harassment lawsuit settled

Waterford Township has agreed to pay $95,000 to settle a sexual harassment lawsuit filed by police department employee Arlene Hampton.  Hampton claims that she was subjected to repeated sexual comments by Detective Lt. Jim Lalone.

Lalone allegedly created a  hostile work environment by referring to women as “tits” and the “bra brigade,” and he allegedly made comments about Hampton’s body and once told her that she “dressed like a whore.”

In 2009, another police department employee, Penny Dye, received $325,000 to settle the sexual harassment lawsuit that she had filed against the township and Police Chief Daniel McCaw.
