New Jersey DPW boss charged with trying to run over an employee

Police have charged Danette Adams, an Englewood, New Jersey Department of Public Works manager, with attempted assault for allegedly trying to run over John Cioffi, an employee who had filed a lawsuit against the city in 2008 accusing Adams of racial discrimination.

Cioffi, who is white, claims that Adams, who is black, created a hostile work environment where she allegedly referred to the white men who she supervised as “pet dogs” and snapped her fingers and yelled at Cioffi to “Come here, white boy, come here, white boy.”
