West Virginia Casino sued for wrongful dismissal

Tamara Pettit, the former public relations director at Mountaineer Casino, Racetrack & Resort in West Virginia, has filed a wrongful dismissal lawsuit against the casino.

Pettit claims that she was publicly chastised by Jack Sours, the casino’s president and general manager, in front of casino customers and other employees during an event in August.

According to WVNS, Pettit claims that “Sours ‘did not publicly berate male supervisors’ in the same manner.”

Pettit alleges that she was fired three days after she complained to the human resources director about the “humiliating and intimidating” incident, and that “her firing was an act of reprisal for her complaint of gender-based discrimination, and thus in violation of West Virginia Human Rights laws.”
