Markum Inn husband-and-wife owners accused of sexually harassing employees

Julie Frederick and Ward Frederick, a married couple who own the Oregon-based Markum Inn, have been accused of sexual harassment by Jessica Webber, a former waitress who worked at Markum Inn from 2006 to 2009.

Webber filed a lawsuit against Markum Inn earlier this month in which she claims that Julie Frederick talked about her sexual fantasies with employees and asked them for sexual advice and suggestions on several occassions.

In addition, Webber claims that Julie and Ward Frederick threw a private party at the Markum Inn for female employees, customers, and friends.  According to the complaint, Ward Frederick “began stripping off his clothes, and stripped down to thong underwear, and began walking around the restaurant and bar area.  He also gave lap dances to employees and guests.  A few minutes later, Mr. Frederick removed his thong, and became completely nude.  Mrs. Frederick began asking the guests and employees to guess the measurements of Mr. Frederick’s penis and asked employees to rub lotion on Mr. Frederick.  Mr. Frederick then began masturbating in front of the guest and employees so the measurements of his erect penis could be taken, and so others could play a ring toss game on his penis.”

i have heard of things going on there.. at their after hours parties… nasty! what those freaks do on there own time is their business but don’t do it where people eat! that is sick! shouldn’t they be closed for health codes??

  3. Michele says:

I have know Ward Frederick since working with him in Reno, Nv. in the 1980’s. I do not believe this story to be true.

  4. Roseanne says:

We have eaten there many times and will continue to do so. I do not believe this story at all. I believe this is just an employee who after being fired was angry…shame on you for trying to ruin someones good name and reputation.

  5. Tiffany says:

this is a true story. i worked there and i know everything that went on. no one is just mad because they were fired.

  6. Joyce says:

I can’t believe someone would “Dream up” such horrible accusations. This kind of behaviour or other types goes on in many job sites. No one wants to be the bearer of the truth because they are afraid no one will believe them plus most need their jobs in this poor economy. Also the whistle blower will be made to feel as if they are in the wrong and everyone else wants to sweep it under the rug and bury their head in the sand hoping it will all disappear.

Why would she wait a year to say anything??

  8. Helen says:

I have worked here for awhile. It is true. But she knew what was going to happen and chose to be there. I still think it was gross and discusting. A job is a job and I love the customers that I wait on. That all dose not matter anymore there are NEW OWNERS NOW!!

Thanks for your input. Has the work environment changed now that new owners are in place?
