Judge rules that sexual harassment lawsuit against East Stroudsburg University will go to trial

A judge ruled that a sexual harassment lawsuit filed against East Stroudsburg University can go to trial.  Six current and former ESU students claim to have been harassed by former chief fundraiser Isaac Sanders.

According to the Ponoco Record, “three of the six plaintiffs had their claims dismissed. The two-year statute of limitations had elapsed by 2009 on the claims of some of the former students, two of whom alleged that Sanders groped their genitals in 2005, and two who said Sanders later tried to intimidate them into not coming forward.”

In his ruling, the judge wrote that “Sanders is alleged to have used his position as vice president of advancement to gain the plaintiffs’ confidences and provide them with gifts including scholarships and student worker or graduate assistant positions in his office.  His state employment was central in choosing these plaintiffs to allegedly victimize.”
