Former Moreno Valley employee sues city for sex discrimination and retaliation

Karen Reams, a former parks and recreation director at Moreno Valley has filed a lawsuit against the California city.

According to The Press-Enterprise, Reams alleges that “her supervisor, Michael McCarty, let her go two years ago as retaliation for allegations of a hostile work environment she made to human resources and an assistant city manager.”

Reams, who started working for Moreno Valley in 1994 and who has received numerous awards and promotions, filed a complaint 13 months ago with the Department of Fair Employment and Housing, which gave her the right to sue.  She is asking for unspecified damages for sex discrimination, failure to take steps to prevent harassment, failure to investigate and retaliation.
