Florida police chief accused of hostile work environment is placed on leave

Venice, Florida Police Chief Julie Williams has been placed on paid administrative leave by City Manager Isaac Turner after she allegedly ignored Turner’s order not to speak with employees about their conversations with the city manager about her performance. 

According to the Herald Tribune, “The department has been in upheaval over discipline problems, a lawsuit accusing Williams of ‘creating a hostile work environment‘ and secret recordings that surfaced on the Internet last week in which the chief is heard saying she is ‘more powerful than the president of the United States.'”
