EEOC files disability discrimination lawsuit against Denver army surplus Western Trading Company

Earlier this month, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission filed a disability discrimination lawsuit against Denver-based army surplus store Western Trading Company, Inc.

The EEOC claims that Western Trading failed to make reasonable accommodations for Tyler Riley, a former employee with epilepsy who has grand mal seizures.  The EEOC also claims that Western Trading terminated Riley in violation of the Americans With Disabilities Act (ADA).

EEOC Regional Attorney Mary Jo O’Neill said, “Myths, fears, or stereotypes about epilepsy are insufficient grounds for refusing to accommodate the disability or for terminating an employee with epilepsy.”
