In 2006, Dr. Elizabeth Pritts of the UW-Madison fertility clinic accused the then director, Dr. Steven Lindheim, of sexual harassment.
An investigative report conducted by The UW-Madison Equity and Diversity Resource Center conducted an investigation and released a report that, in the words of one university official, “paints a picture of a disturbing environment” where medical students and residents stopped working in the clinic because of the “open hostility.”
According to the Wisconsin State Journal, the report uncovered the following findings:
-Lindheim had a sex toy in his office that other staff members could find. Lindheim said he kept the toy in his desk.
-Lindheim frequently gave back rubs to the mostly female staff; some of them liked it and others didn’t.
-Lindheim wore a surgical gown on which had been drawn breasts and pubic hair.
-Others told investigators they had concerns about Lindheim touching or rubbing patients’ legs.
Pritts received a $185,000 settlement from UW-Madison and left the fertility clinic.
