Florida County Commissioner sued for sexual harassment loses re-election

Kevin White, the Hillsborough County Commissioner who was found by a jury to have sexually harassed a 22-year-old aide, lost his attempt for re-election.

Last year, jurors awarded Alyssa Ogden $75,000 after they found that White had sexually harassed her.  Ogden also claimed that she was fired after refusing White’s sexual advances.

According to the Tampa Tribune, after the trial, White’s fellow commissioners voted to sue him “to recoup some of the $425,000 in legal fees the county amassed as a co-defendant in the sexual harassment case. White reciprocated by suing the county to recover his legal fees in the case.”

White, a former police officer, says that he will now pursue business opportunities in the private sector.
