Connecticut court clerk sues bosses for hostile work environment

Habibah Abdul-Hakeem, a former clerk at the Norwich Superior Court in Connecticut, has filed a hostile work environment lawsuit against two of her bosses, Deputy Chief Clerk Cara Parkinson and Deputy Clerk Corrine McCarthy.

According to the Norwich Bulletin, “Abdul-Hakeem claims McCarthy ‘habitually ridiculed the speech patterns of African-Americans who had dealings in the clerk’s office, using phrases such as Ebonics.'”
