Clyde Rose, the 72-year old founder and former publisher of Breakwater Books in St. John’s, Canada has been charged with a single count of sexual assault. The incident allegedly occurred over December 25-26, 2009. The victim has not been identified due to a publication ban.
Rose is one of the founders of Breakwater Books Ltd, Newfoundland and Labrador’s first commercial publishing house, which is dedicated to Newfoundland-oriented books. He retired last year, handing over the reins to his daughter, Rebecca.
Clyde Rose was scheduled to make an appearance in court on July 6, but was represented by his lawyer Bob Buckingham instead; a plea of “not guilty” was entered.
