EEOC files sexual harassment lawsuit against Mountain River Trucking Company

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has filed a sexual harassment lawsuit against Mountain River Trucking Company, Inc., based in Mount Airy, North Carolina.

Despite claiming to offer its workers “a safe working environment,” the EEOC accuses Mountain River’s president and owner, Pete Smith, of creating a hostile work environment by sexually harassing Della Francis and a number of other female employees.

According to the EEOC, Smith “made explicit sexual comments to Francis on a near-daily basis, including comments about the size of his private parts and his sexual prowess.  He also told stories about sexual encounters he had with women, including his wife. The owner also showed Francis photos on his computer of nude women he wanted to have sex with.  After Francis complained about the harassment, the company fired her.”
