The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) filed a federal lawsuit alleging that Covington, KY-based Omnicare Inc., which does business as Pinnacle Pharmacy permitted a sexually hostile work environment in one of its Wisconsin pharmacies. The EEOC claims that several women complained that they were sexually harassed and that pharmacy management didn’t help them.
Claire Sweet, manager of a Pinnacle Pharmacy location in La Crosse, WI, is alleged to have subjected several females to repeated sexual harassment, including inappropriate touching and explicit comments, between March 2005 and July 2007, according to the suit filed in U.S. District Court.
An Omnicare spokesperson says the company doesn’t tolerate sexual harassment in the workplace and contends that the group misunderstood Sweet. The EEOC filed the lawsuit after failed attempts to settle.
A court date has not yet been set for the lawsuit, which seeks back pay, punitive damages and other relief to compensate the women for monetary losses and pain and suffering. It also demands that the pharmacy end the discrimination.
