Jury finds former DeKalb CEO Vernon Jones guilty of creating hostile work environment

On April 1st, a jury awarded two former DeKalb County parks employees $185,000 in damages in a racial discrimination case against the county.

In the federal case, the jurors found that former DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones, Jones’ former executive assistant, Richard Stogner, and former parks director Marilyn Boyd Drew “created and maintained a hostile work environment.”

Four former DeKalb County employees had sued Jones and the other defendants, claiming they discriminated against white employees in the county’s Parks and Recreation Department.

Vernon Jones is currently running for U.S. Congress in the 2010 election.
